Rutsiro and Gakenke Districts get DGPR Parliamentary candidates

The Democratic Green Party of Rwanda is pleased to inform the general public that it concluded party meetings and trainings in Rutsiro and Gakenke districts on 3rd March 2018, where members elected both female and male parliamentary candidates, who will represent them in the upcoming parliamentary elections in Rwanda.

The leadership trainings offered skills in management of political conflicts, rules and regulations regarding elections and electoral campaigns, women involvement in decision making organs, gender issues and the party’s political ideology.

DGPR has Submitted Demands for Political and Electoral Reforms to the Rwandan Prime Minister

The Democratic Green Party of Rwanda has today, the 19th of April 2016, submitted its demands to the Rwandan Prime Minister, calling for reforms in the national election laws and the political parties Act.

This request follows a previous petition submitted to the Rwandan Parliament on 10th February 2016, calling for political and electoral reforms.  However, the party was advised by the Deputy Speaker on 10th March 2016, to either find an MP to table the matter in Parliament or request the cabinet to do so as stipulated in Article 88 of the Rwandan Constitution.

Rwanda Constitutional Referendum No-Change Campaign Not Possible

The Democratic Green Party of Rwanda, wishes to inform members of the media and the general public, that its planned constitutional referendum no-change campaign will not be carried out, due to the one-week short notice given for the referendum to be conducted.

The Referendum was confirmed yesterday, 8th December 2015, by the cabinet meeting and will be held next week on Friday, the 18th December 2015.

African States Should Demand Climate Justice at COP21 in Paris

The evidence of climate change is overwhelming around the continent. African states are requested to go with one voice and one position to the UN’s Conference on Climate Change in Paris, which is to demand climate justice for the African people. (In English and Spanish)

Press Release: Rwanda Supreme Court hearing on the non-Lifting of Presidential Term Limits from the Constitution is concluded.

Today, the 23rd of September 2015, Rwanda’s Supreme Court, chaired by the Chief Justice, Prof.Sam RUGEGE, started the full hearing of the case submitted by the Democratic Green Party of Rwanda, regarding the non-lifting of Presidential Term Limits from the Constitution.

The Democratic Green Party of Rwanda, presented details on why it believes that the term limits of the President of the Republic, should not be changed or removed from the constitution.

Rwanda Supreme Court hearing on Constitutional Change Regarding Lifting of Presidential Term Limits has commenced.

Rwanda’s Supreme Court has today, the 29th of July 2015, started hearing, the petition against the change of the Rwandan Constitution, especially Article 101, regarding lifting of Presidential term limits, filed by the Democratic Green Party of Rwanda.
