International Greens call for democracy and Green action!

International Green delegates from 70 countries met in Dakar, Senegal, 29th March - 1st April, for the first ever Global Green Congress held in Africa (www.dakar2012.org) and tackled issues such as solidarity, democracy, biodiversity, climate change, and the future of the Global Greens parties.

 

This Global Greens gathering was preceded by the 2nd African Greens Congress on 28th and 29th March 2012, which was supported by Green Forum Sweden and the 3rd Global Young Greens Congress, from 27th-29th March 2012.

The Global Greens international coalition of the Green Parties of the world declare our full solidarity with Ukraine and its people. We call upon the world community and political leaders to unify and respond in the strongest terms to the unprovoked, unilateral, and catastrophic invasion by Putin-led Russia against Ukraine.

It’s my party and I’ll cry if I want to. This sentiment, outlined in Lesley Gore’s 1963 hit, has seemingly been the manifesto of politicians throughout history who view institutions as merely instruments for their own personal gain. But political parties are more than an extension of their leader’s popularity. They are vibrant organizations of thousands, sometimes millions, of people united behind a common vision, armed with the unique ability to radically transform their society.

Global Greens Statutes Signed in La Paz, Bolivia

The Global Greens Coordination finally approved and signed the organisation's official statutes on 27th November 2013, in La Paz, Bolivia.

This happens after a period exceeding ten years, since the establishment of the Global Greens Movement in Canberra, Australia in 2001.

The third Global Greens Congress held in Dakar, Senegal during 2012, mandated the Global Greens Coordination to legalise the international greens family.

The headquarters have been established in Brussels, Belgium with a permanent secretariat.

This is an important milestone achieved.
