Press Statement: DGPR’s stand on Ndi Umunyarwanda and National Political Parties Forum

The Political Bureau of the Democratic Green Party of Rwanda during its meeting on 7th March 2014 at Auberge Bel Angle, Kimironko, Kigali, among other things finalised discussions on the ‘Ndi Umunyarwanda’ program and the National Consultative Political Parties Forum.

The Party supports the objective of ensuring and encouraging all the different people’s groups in Rwanda to put aside their differences and promote the spirit of being Rwandans (Ndi Umunyarwanda). The party however, calls for the following changes:

Germany Green Member of Parlianment visits DGPR

Hon.Tabea Rößner a German Member of Parianment representing the Green Party visited the Democratic Green Party of Rwanda, on 26th February 2014. She was accopmainied by the country Director the Jumelage/Partnership Rhineland-Palatinate and another official.

The visit aimed at streangthing ties with the German Greens and several partnership proposals, including exchange programs and training opportunties were discused.

Follow up visits shall be conducted in a near by future.

However, we are pleased of his public appearance after having made many calls to search for him.

Eastern Africa Greens Federation Secretariat Established in Kampala,Uganda

The East Africa Greens Federation congress which brought together leaders and representatives of Eastern African Green parties from Rwanda, Uganda, Kenya and Burundi who met 8th – 9th November 2013 in Kigali Rwanda, resolved that the headquarters of the EAGF will be based in Kampala Uganda. The EAGF headquarters have been established on National Insurance Corporation Building (NIC), Plot 4 Pilkington Road, Kampala Uganda.

EAGF is a membership of Green Political Parties and Movements in Eastern Africa working in a coalition to achieve the following objectives

 As we come to the end of 2013, we would like to take this moment to thank all our party members, supporters, media fraternity, human rights advocates, diplomatic missions, Government of Rwanda, friends of Rwanda and the international Greens family, for the support rendered in the great accomplishments the Democratic Green Party of Rwanda achieved during 2013.

Global Greens Statutes Signed in La Paz, Bolivia

The Global Greens Coordination finally approved and signed the organisation's official statutes on 27th November 2013, in La Paz, Bolivia.

This happens after a period exceeding ten years, since the establishment of the Global Greens Movement in Canberra, Australia in 2001.

The third Global Greens Congress held in Dakar, Senegal during 2012, mandated the Global Greens Coordination to legalise the international greens family.

The headquarters have been established in Brussels, Belgium with a permanent secretariat.

This is an important milestone achieved.

Democratic Green Party of Rwanda Hosts the East African Greens Congress

For Immediate Release:

Kigali, 7  November 2013, - The Democratic Green Party Rwanda, will host the first ever East African Greens Congress, this Friday, 8th and Saturday 9th November 2013, at Bloom Back Hotel, Kigali.

This event will bring together Greens from the Ecological Party of Uganda, Mazingira Green Party of Kenya, Burundi Green Movement and the Democratic Green Party of Rwanda.
