Permission Granted by Gasabo District to hold Party Founding Congress

The Democratic Green Party of Rwanda wishes to inform party members, the general public and the media fraternity, that it has finally received the permission to hold its founding congress from Gasabo District.

We had submitted a new request to the District Mayor on 5th June 2013, explaining measures taken to move the party registration process forward.

The Party’s founding congress shall take place on Friday, 21st June 2013 in the ‘Salle Polyvallente la Verdana-Kimironko’, ex-Casabonita, 50 metres past Kibagabaga Road before Kimironko prison.

North African Greens Federation Established and Other Important Achievements

The representatives of North African Green Parties from Tunisia, Egypt and Morocco who met in Cairo-Egypt from 6th -9th June 2013, unanimously decided to establish the North African Greens Federation (NAGF).

The Headquarters of this regional federation shall be located in Cairo-Egypt and the secretariat shall be hosted by the Egyptian Green Party.

Clarifications on Mr.Mugisha Alexis and New Request to Hold Party Founding Congress

Today, we submitted a new letter to the Mayor of Gasabo District, clarifying matters concerning Mr.Mugisha Alexis and requesting a new permision  to hold a the party's founding congress.

Press Release: New Obstacles in Party Registration and Mayors Response

The Democratic Green Party of Rwanda has received a response from the Mayor of Gasabo District, Kigali City, regarding the request submitted on 22nd April, to hold its official founding congress on 10th May 2013.

 

The Mayor, says that he received another letter from someone called Mugisha Alexis, requesting to hold a similar congress of the same party but on a different date and different venue.

 

The Mayor, has therefore, requested us to sort out issues in our Party that are causing confusion before seeking permission to hold the founding congress!

DGPR has Submitted New Request to Hold Founding Congress

The Democratic Green Party of Rwanda, has today, 22nd April 2013, submitted an official letter requesting the Mayor of Gasabo District to grant it permision to hold the party's founding congress on 10th May 2013.

The previous request was submitted in September 2012 but a response was not availed in time and the congress was called off, two days before the event.That Congress had been scheduled for 16th November 2012.

The Mayor later informed party leaders that investigations in security concerns were still going on and that was the reason for the non-response.

Honorary Doctorate of Humanities Conferred Upon Dr.Frank Habineza

On 15th March 2013, Dr.Frank Habineza, Founding President of the Democratic Green Party of Rwanda, recieved a Honorary Doctorate of Humanities, from Bethel College, Mishiwaka, Indiana, USA.

The degree was presented in honor of his work in promoting democratic reforms and human rights in Rwanda and across Africa.

Dr.Habineza, is also the President of the African Greens Federation- a coalition of green political parties and political movements across Africa, with headquaters in Ougadougou, Burkina Faso.

Rwandan Opposition Leader Receives Doctoral Degree from Bethel College, Indiana,USA

Frank Habineza, founder and president of the Opposition Democratic Green Party of Rwanda will receive an honorary Doctoral Degree from Bethel College, Mishawaka, Indiana, USA, during a campus ceremony at 10:00 am Friday, March 15, 2013. The degree is presented in honor of Mr. Habineza’s work in promoting democratic reforms and human rights in Rwanda and across Africa.

PUBLIC NOTICE

The consultative meeting of the Executive Committee of the Democratic Green Party of Rwanda held both on 1st and 2nd February 2013, resolved to relieve Mr.Omar Leo, from his duties as the party’s communication secretary, due to his irresponsible behaviour largely displayed in his oral and written communications, especially in the social media.

 

As a member of the party and a citizen aspiring for a public office, integrity must be unquestionable and credentials unimpeachable.

African Greens Federation Recorded Great Success during 2012

The African Greens Federation (AGF) registered a lot of success during 2012. This was a year where most of the African Greens dreams were able to come true.

During 2012, AGF in collaboration with the Global Greens Coordination and other partners were able to hold the Third Global Greens Congress in Dakar, Senegal between March and April 2012. This congress was a turning point for the Greens of the world.
