Parliamentary polls: Green Party targets 20% of seats

The Democratic Green Party of Rwanda (DGPR) is looking at coming up with a “strong manifesto” before embarking on a vigorous campaign to secure at least 20 per cent of parliamentary seats in the September polls, party officials have said.

The party president, Frank Habineza, who also ran in last year’s presidential elections has exclusively told The New Times that they are ready to submit their list of candidates, adding that they are looking to fielding up to 60 members in the campaign.

DGPR Trained members in Kirehe, Nyagatare and Gisagara Districts

 The Democratic Green Party of Rwanda successfully trained its members and held consultative meetings in Kirehe, Nyagatare and Gisagara Districts on 10th and 11th March 2018.

During these meetings members elected candidates who will represent them in the upcoming parliamentary elections. They also elected elected district committee leaders.

Parliamentary Candidates in Huye and Kamonyi Elected

The Democratic Green Party of Rwanda is pleased to inform its members and the public that it concluded district meetings for party members in Huye and Kamonyi districts on 17th and 18th February 2018. Party members also had an opportunity to elect two parliamentary candidates, both male and female, who will represent those districts. They also elected district committee leaders.

DGPR Concluded Consultative meetings and trainings in Rubavu and Karongi Districts

The Democratic Green Party of Rwanda successfully held consultative meetings and trainings for party members in Rubavu and Karongi districts on 28th January 2018. During the consultative meetings, members elected two parliamentary candidates, both male and female, who will represent those districts.

Dr.Frank Habineza confirmed by Electoral Commission as Rwandan Presidential Candidate

The National Electoral Commission has today the 7th of July 2017 confirmed Dr. Frank Habineza as a presidential candidate in the Rwandan presidential elections, representing the opposition Democratic Green Party of Rwanda.

Dr.Frank Habineza, submitted Presidential Candidacy dossier to the Electoral Commission

The Democratic Green Party of Rwanda is pleased to inform the general public and members of the media, that its leader, Dr.Frank Habineza, has submitted all credentials for Presidential candidacy to the National Electoral Commission, on the 12th of June 2017.

According to the Rwandan constitution and all electoral laws and instructions, the dossier submitted include the following:

-        Confirmation of Rwandan nationality

-        Letter confirming single citizenship

-        Birth Certificate
