The opposition Democratic Green Party of Rwanda on Wednesday called for a ‘lasting solution’ after its campaign against hiked property tax bore fruit.
The Finance Minister Dr Uzziel Ndagijimana announced Tuesday late evening that government had decided to suspend implementation of taxes on land and property which had come into force in 2019.

The National Electoral Commission has today the 7th of July 2017 confirmed Dr. Frank Habineza as a presidential candidate in the Rwandan presidential elections, representing the opposition Democratic Green Party of Rwanda.
The Democratic Green Party of Rwanda is pleased to inform the general public and members of the media, that its leader, Dr.Frank Habineza, has submitted all credentials for Presidential candidacy to the National Electoral Commission, on the 12th of June 2017.

The Democratic Green Party of Rwanda’s political bureau, today, 17th December 2016, nominated Dr.Frank Habineza, the party leader as its flag bearer in the upcoming presidential elections planned for 3rd and 4th August 2017.
This decision was arrived at after numerous deliberations within the party’s political bureau, commenced on 5th March 2016. The official confirmation of the presidential candidate will be done by the party’s congress, which will be organised before end of March 2017.
On 15th March 2013, Dr.Frank Habineza, Founding President of the Democratic Green Party of Rwanda, recieved a Honorary Doctorate of Humanities, from Bethel College, Mishiwaka, Indiana, USA.
The degree was presented in honor of his work in promoting democratic reforms and human rights in Rwanda and across Africa.
Dr.Habineza, is also the President of the African Greens Federation- a coalition of green political parties and political movements across Africa, with headquaters in Ougadougou, Burkina Faso.
