Labour day message: DGPR calls for a minimum wage in Rwanda

The Democratic Green Party of Rwanda (DGPR) takes on the opportunity of the International Labour day to request the Rwandan Government to set up a minimum wage (SMG) for Rwandan workers, without further delay, as stipulated in Article 76, Law No. 13/2009 of 27 May 2009.

DGPR has Submitted Demands for Political and Electoral Reforms to the Rwandan Prime Minister

The Democratic Green Party of Rwanda has today, the 19th of April 2016, submitted its demands to the Rwandan Prime Minister, calling for reforms in the national election laws and the political parties Act.

This request follows a previous petition submitted to the Rwandan Parliament on 10th February 2016, calling for political and electoral reforms.  However, the party was advised by the Deputy Speaker on 10th March 2016, to either find an MP to table the matter in Parliament or request the cabinet to do so as stipulated in Article 88 of the Rwandan Constitution.

Press Release: DGPR Leaders Met with the Deputy Speaker of Rwandan Parliament on Legal Reforms

Upon invitation by the Rwandan Parliament, on Thursday, 10th March 2016, the President of the Democratic Green Party of Rwanda, together with the Party’s Secretary General and National Treasurer, met with the Deputy Speaker of Parliament in charge of Legal affairs and control of the Government, accompanied by the Director of Legal Affairs and discussed issues concerning DGPR’s requests for electoral and political reforms.

DGPR sets Conditions for Participating in 2017 Presidential Elections

The Political Bureau of the Democratic Green Party of Rwanda, during its meeting on 5th March 2016 in Kigali, decided that it will not participate in the upcoming Presidential elections, if the Government of Rwanda does not respond to its demands for political and electoral reforms.

DGPR submitted its petition to the Rwandan Parliament on 10th February 2016, but till now, it has received no response. The opposition Party also decided that it will make a people’s peaceful match and visit to the Rwandan Parliament soon in order to clarify its positions to the members of Parliament.

DGPR Calls for Political and Electoral Reforms from the Rwandan Parliament

The Democratic Green Party of Rwanda has today, the 10th of February 2016, submitted its petition to the Rwandan Parliament, calling for revisions in the national election laws and the political parties Act. These political reforms are needed before the 2017 Presidential Elections and the 2018 Parliamentary elections and would enable a level playing field.
