Democratic Green Party of Rwanda Strongly Condemns Gen.Kayumba Nyamwasa’s False Statements

The Democratic Green Party of Rwanda condemns in the strongest terms possible the careless false statements of the exiled Gen.Kayumba Nyamwasa in his case at the African Court on Human and People's Rights in Arusha(ACHPR), where he discredited DGPR’s case at the Rwandan Supreme Court in 2015, regarding the change of the constitution, thinking that it would give him an upper hand at the ACHPR.

The Democratic Green Party of Rwanda is pleased to inform members of the media and the general public that it will convene a national congress this coming Sunday, 19th March 2017, in Kigali, Rwanda.

This congress is expected to confirm the party’s flag bearer for the upcoming presidential elections.

 It will also validate the party’s political program, which entail the party’s priorities for the upcoming seven years.

 A press conference will also be held after the congress.

DGPR trained its members in Rulindo district and elected district leaders.

The Democratic Green Party of Rwanda successfully finalised a leadership training for party members in Rulindo district. The training started on 22nd October and finalised on 6th November 2016.

Members also elected the party district committee, which will oversee the formation of other party structures in Rulindo District.

The training offered skills in management of political conflicts, rules and regulations regarding elections and electoral campaigns, women involvement in decision making organs, gender issues and partnerships between the private sector and Government.

DGPR Conducted a Leadership Training in Rwamagana District and Established Party Structures

The Democratic Green Party of Rwanda is pleased to inform members of the media and the general public that it successfully conducted a leadership training for party members in Rwamagana District and established party structures.

The trainings were conducted between 3rd -11th September 2016, with support from the National Consultative Forum of Political Organisations in Rwanda.

The trainings focused on the following themes:

-        Political competition: elections, rules and regulations during electoral campaigns

The Return of Rwanda’s Exiled King Kigeli V Ndahindurwa a key pillar to achieving Sustainable Development Goals.

The Democratic Green Party of Rwanda recently called upon the Rwandan Government to help bring back the exiled last Rwandan King Kigeli V Ndahindurwa, who was overthrown in 1961 and currently lives in the United States of America. The King’s return is a key factor for achieving sustainable peace and stability as well as several Sustainable Developmental Goals (SDGs).

SDG Goal number 16 states: Promote peaceful and inclusive societies for sustainable development, provide access to justice for all and build effective, accountable and inclusive institutions at all levels.

Party Declaration: Democratic Green Party of Rwanda calls upon the Rwandan Government to help bring back Exiled King Kigeli Ndahindurwa V.

The Democratic Green Party of Rwanda calls upon the Rwandan Government to do whatever is possible and help bring back the Exiled last Rwandan King Kigeli Ndahindurwa V, who was overthrown in 1961 and currently lives in the United States of America.

The National Executive Committee of the Democratic Green Party of Rwanda (DGPR), during its retreat that took place on 21-22 May 2016, resolved that the Exiled Rwandan King be accorded all privileges provided by law for the former heads of state.

DGPR has Submitted Demands for Political and Electoral Reforms to the Rwandan Prime Minister

The Democratic Green Party of Rwanda has today, the 19th of April 2016, submitted its demands to the Rwandan Prime Minister, calling for reforms in the national election laws and the political parties Act.

This request follows a previous petition submitted to the Rwandan Parliament on 10th February 2016, calling for political and electoral reforms.  However, the party was advised by the Deputy Speaker on 10th March 2016, to either find an MP to table the matter in Parliament or request the cabinet to do so as stipulated in Article 88 of the Rwandan Constitution.
